Eric Bergesen

UPS Flight Forward Inc.

Eric Bergesen is the Director of Operations for UPS Flight Forward Inc. Eric led the operations team through the Part 135 Certification effort, resulting in the FAA awarding UPSFF with the first Standard Part 135 Air Carrier Operating Certificate for Unmanned Aircraft Operations. His current role follows 5 years as a Flight Qualified Management Pilot for UPS Airlines. During that time he served as an A300 Captain, Check Airman, and FAA Aircrew Program Designee for both the simulator and aircraft.

Jeremy Grogan

Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)

Jeremy Grogan leads the Part 107 Waiver Team located within the Safety Standards General and Commercial Aviation Policy Branch of the FAA. He oversees subject matter experts who perform safety risk management analysis of part 107 waiver applications. Other duties include UAS policy development, UAS guidance development, international UAS policy, DroneZone development, DroneZone enhancement, and UAS rule making activities.

University of Arizona’s Yuma Center of Excellence for Desert Agriculture

Paul Brierley is Executive Director of the University of Arizona’s Yuma Center of Excellence for Desert Agriculture where drones are currently used in collaborative industry/academia projects varying from ground-truthing satellite data for irrigation management to automated pollination of date trees.

Romeo Durscher is Director of Public Safety Integration at DJI, the world’s leading maker of civilian drones and aerial imaging technology. Born and raised in Switzerland, Romeo came to DJI after 13 years at NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory. As part of his work advising first responders and humanitarian organizations, Romeo has actively participated in drone missions for search and rescue operations, natural disasters, such as the Tubbs, Carr and Camp Fires in California.

Sami Mian

Sami Mian

University of Pittsburgh, NASA Langley Research Center, and the NSF Center for Space, High Performance & Resilient Computing

Sami Mian is a roboticist, researcher, and entrepreneur from Phoenix, Arizona. His research focuses on multi-agent UAV control and management. Specifically, he is working on developing novel approaches to decentralized swarm control and sensor fusion techniques, and is working on applications for using UAV platforms as testbeds for satellite constellations.
